Literature Text

I calmly and slowly crept my way along. Four-hundred feet below me, the ocean waves and storms raged below. The only way out of my cell prison, was to crawl along the wall.
I pulled my wings in close, afraid to fly. If they had falcons out, I'd be dead. I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and moved my way sideways along the rail of the prison.
I had managed to go 4 feet before I finally heard it. A alarm sounded. It was high and piercing, almost making me lose my footing. I could hear shouting in the room which I stood in front of.
I knew what was going to happen a second before it did. I launched myself side ways, grabbing a hold of the rail a few feet away, just as the wall exploded.
I looked at the gaping hole. Out of it appeared a shadow.
I cursed under my breath. The shadow strode out toward me. Walking on air.
"I don't know how you escaped," he hissed. "But I can guarantee, this is as far as you will get." He stepped forward. I loosened my wings. He pulled out his sword. I let go of the rail. He attacked. I fell.
I can not describe a free fall. I guess it like every part of you is left behind, and your soul is still falling. Funny, now I'm a poet.
Now for the hard part. Flying. I stretched out my wings, trying to catch air. Several of my feathers were ripped out, and I still fell.
"Come on, come on-" I muttered. I began to flap. One, two, three. Suddenly, a great gust of air surged up, forcing me up into the air. With a powerful stroke of my wings, I soared forward.
"Take that!" I screamed, shaking my fist at the fortress that had held me captive.
    Rawr!!!!
I turned just in time to see a large bird, seven times larger than me. Falcon. Two more came into view, claws outreached for me. And they came fast.
Swiftly, I rolled away as the first one, swooped under the second, but the third caught me on the shoulder with it's talons. Blood streamed down my arm, and I hissed with pain. I flew forward, grabbing on to the creatures neck.
I felt myself unlocking the fire, letting it flow off my finger tips. The bird fell out of the sky, screeching.
The remaining falcons dived at me. I faced them head on, launching my flames at them. One of them dodged, but the other was caught right in the face.
The last falcon flew back to the prison. But he wouldn't get away that easy.
I shot after him, using the flames on my hands to rocket myself forward.
I attached myself to the bird, letting the flames burn it. It cried out in pain.
"You can tell you masters that Sage has escaped." I breathed into it's ear. "And that I'm going to save the world."
With that, I released it, watching it zoom away. When it finally disappeared, I turned, and headed to Nueatal, or home.
Sage's epic escape for the prision!

Falls asleep.
